IOWA HISTORY
THE BEGINNING OF THE THETA THETA CHAPTER
In the fall of 2002, 16 courageous men set out on one goal: Charter a new chapter of Pi Kappa Phi at the University of Iowa.
Over the next three years, the chapter grew and faced many different challenges that accompanied the process. The members had to draft a Constitution, By-Laws, Risk Management Protocol, Standards Board, Code of Conduct, and many other documents. Many heated debates faced the Founding Fathers of the chapter, but led to the ultimate goal, founding the chapter.
On April 29, 2005, 34 men experienced the Ritual of Initiation, and installation as an official chapter of Pi Kappa Phi.

Accompanying this installation, was the securement of a physical structure at the University of Iowa, 202 Ellis Ave.
With the chapter founded, the Theta Theta Chapter went through it’s first fall Formal Rush within the chapter structure, having three men join the chapter from the formal process. Along with the formal recruitment, the chapter also recruited four additional men to make up the very first pledge class as an initiated chapter, the Alpha Class.
Led by Class President, David Hartwig, Vice President, Michael Jesernik, and Treasurer, Nathan Peterson, this class marked the first steps that the chapter took as an initiated chapter. With these seven men being initiated on October 15, 2005, a new sense of excitement swept over the chapter.
Since then, Pi Kappa Phi has grown into one of the largest and most respected chapters at the University of Iowa. We continue to pride ourselves in being university leaders and well rounded men with an unbreakable and lifetime brotherhood. In 2017, the original founding fathers work with Pi Kappa Phi Properties to purchase and renovate a new chapter house, which we currently reside in, located at 332 Ellis Ave.
