AT IOWA

The Theta Theta chapter prides ourselves in involvement with The Ability Experience. Since the first day of membership within our chapter, our philanthropic mission and goals as a chapter are shared with our new members. It is expected that every brother participates, markets, and fundraises amongst their peers during all of our campus events.

Our Philanthropy Chairman, Kai Lindholm, is in charge of organization and coordinating our philanthropic events throughout 2022. For any inquisition on our events, our impact, or possibly pairing for an event, reach out to him at kai-lindholm@uiowa.edu.

CAMPUS EVENTS

At the University of Iowa, Pi Kappa Phi Theta Theta has put on many on campus events to help fundraise and bring awareness for The Ability Experience. Some of our recent ones include Pi-A-Pi Kapp at Hubbard Park and a Chipotle Fundraiser at the Iowa City location.

CAMP SUNNYSIDE

Once a year in the spring semester, the brothers of Pi Kappa Phi take a trip out to Des Moines to visit Camp Sunnyside. Camp Sunnyside is a 80+ acre property that offers services to ensure that all people with disabilities or special needs and their families have equal opportunities to live, learn, work, and play in their communities. They offer a wide range of support to children and adults with disabilities to promote independence and the ability to grow. Camp Sunnyside hosts summer week long camps, day camps, and Respite Weekend events.

Last few times our chapter has visited the camp, we have had the opportunity to clean out activity cabins, help get rid of old supplies and trash, organize shelving and equipment, and overall help prepare the camp for the summer camps. Additionally, we have had the amazing experience to interact, play games like basketball and kickball, swim, and just get to know some of kids with disabilities while we’re there.

Overall, visiting Camp Sunnyside is a great experience for our brothers and something we look forward to doing every year!
